Photography can be a little like drawing, as a way to note ideas quickly. A camera gives me an opportunity to be in the world. I’m interested in people, and the things people do; what makes a life, and how a person goes about it,whether it’s running a company in Missouri, or farming in a village in India.
Following photography and painting studies at the Chicago School of the Art Institute and the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, Jeanne Hilary went to live and work in Paris. . She divides her time between advertising, institutional and editorial clients, and personal projects. Her work has been exhibited internationally, at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, among others and is in numerous public and private collections. "La Plume et le Zinc," portraits of writers in Paris, was published by les Editions Hazan in 1998.
